To me, this is a dangerous product to use. It is not easy to control and mostly only cuts in a straight line, so I don't know how valuable it would nbe for a wood carver. I purchased it to take down some tree roots sticking up too high in my yard. While I was able to lower the top of the roots, it wasn't easy with this tool. It would cut very well in a straight line, but only about 1 and 1/2 inches deep before bottoming out on the grinder shaft. Trying to cut on the side did not work well at allI first used it to cut some bush branches which it did in short order, but would not cut off the larger branches without moving around the branch. Then worked on some tree roots and I guess due to having the disk flat, all the screws came lose and allowed the chain to come off. Luckly, I saw this happening before it caused any problems. I reinstallled the chain and hammered the screwes so they could not come lose.
