These mills each take 4 batteries…they work very well, and make adding spice to your meals with your one free hand extremely easy. The 2 shortcomings of these mills are: they don’t have an LED light so you can see exactly how much salt and pepper is being dispensed; and the holding area for the salt and pepper is very small compared to the overall size of the mills1st set arrived broken because the were sent in an envelope but they were replaced. They work well.I have purchased 4 of these and they don't last more than 6 months. The central drive shaft fails resulting in grinding failure. So disappointing.A friend of mine had these battery operated salt and pepper shakers and I really like them. I just had to order them for myself. Easy to operate, makes a great gift.I would definitely recommend this product.Disappointed in these. I bought them thinking they would be better than the cheap ones and they looked nicer too. First, they are very slow. The cheap ones are much faster. My other issue is they use SIX AAA batteries and it goes through them quite fast. The packaging failed in transit and mills escaped their plastic packaging. One is scuffed. They should have been packed in a box not a padded envelope. These replaced a set from a well known cookware store that failed to back their product. They work well and the led light is focused so you can see the salt falling. Great feature. Our other mills operated when invérted which was more balanced. Oh, the grind is easily adjusted. Product is 4 star but the packaging and delivery/transit/handling was poor.Works fine if a little slow, as others have said. I didn't need a salt grinder but I now have a spare and a source for parts when both quit. The grinder works great for salt since typically not a lot is used; however if you like a lot of ground pepper on your food, I would stick to a manual pepper mill. These are definitely a good product otherwise. Each of these two take six AAA batteries which is almost more than the mills...First of all; you get one, not a pair for the price (missleading description). Second; the reservoir is very tiny -- no larger than what you can see through the clear plastic, so it doesn't last long AT ALL. Third, and worse gripe, is that refilling is very tricky and messy. If you don't have everything lined up EXACTLY right, the switch doesn't work. I gave it two stars instead of one, because the quality is actually pretty good other than the aforementioned problems. I recommend looking at a different brand. These are very nice looking IRL. They don't hold a ton of product, so if you use a lot of salt and pepper you might find this to be a drawback. The other thing to note is that they are top heavy. That's fine if they are just sitting on your table or wherever, but we have them on a shelf in our pantry that has a lower bar to hold things in. If you close the pantry door too hard, they tip over and fall. Other than that they work great! keep the batteries up and they grind well and quickly. Dommage.Agree they are top heavy. Look good but no LED light so at night dinner with lights down you cant see the salt or pepper come out when using it.NEEDS LEDNeeds better more fine tuning grinding selector. grinds too fine, cannot get it to stay at a coarser grind.; fine grind OK.- for the price way too expensive !It still does its job after one year of use. It is a little bit tricky when it came to changing batteries or recharging with salt / pepper but after the first time I got this easier.
