Waited a while and also contacted the seller before writing this review - as at first I was disappointed.I love the size. The look is nice (though admittedly looks on the grinders is not a priority for me).Notes on getting the size you want while grindingI was not liking the adjustable grinder. I was thinking that the three dots were to help you line up to get the size you want. It really isn't. It is more just letting you know which way to twist to adjust. I was having great difficulty getting the peppercorn to be the size I wanted (I like it big for when you put it on steaks). I couldn't get it how I wanted. The seller stated something like (paraphrasing) " turn it in the direction of the dot size you want, but make sure you don't turn it too far where grinder doesn't work" <---seller wrote it better. I was making the error of at first not turning the knob far enough, and then overcompensating and turning it way too far where grinder wasn't working. Now - adjusting it is very easy - and I got the salt shaker right on my first attempt.Not a perfect five star, as I wish the grinder were like some types where it lined up to markings (or had a slot where it turns and locks in place) to assist in getting what you want the first time. It is easy now, but did take a bit to get used to.What a wonderful seller. No need to reach out to them, they contacted me to ask about my satisfaction. Superb grinders, best I have purchased so far. Spent a bunch of money on Wolfgang Puck electric griders that either never would grind or would never shut off, huge pain. As a devoted gourmet cook, I already have a selection of wooden grinders for this, that and the other, salt, pepper, coriander seeds, anise seeds, and many other spices, none of which truly meet my needs. As of today I have had these a week, I washed and dried (using a blow dryer for the ceramic burrs), according to the emailed tips from the seller. So far they are easy to fill, no nonsense, dependable grinders with adjustable coarseness to fine settings, and are easy to use at the stovetop, which is what I bought them for. Depending on how they function 6 to 10 months from now, I will buy these again. If they die in the meantime, it will depend on the sellers customer service. These are super for the price point. I could have bought 4 pairs of these for my Asian and Indian spices for the $$ I wasted on Wolfgang Puck garbage, and I wish I would have. Stay tuned for a follow up review later this year. I'll let you know how they hold up. All the best, SBReceived these about a week ago. Both grinders are exactly as advertised - a no-nonsense, simple, effective, elegant grinder. The resevoirs are perfectly sized for bulk peppercorns or coarse salt. The adjustable grind is greatly appreciated. The grind aperture is large enough that you don't have to grind for 1/2 hour to get 1/4 tsp of pepper, even on the finest setting.As someone pointed out, we have had problems in the past with nylon grinding burrs. But we have also had issues with metal burrs. These seem to be a bit tougher. The grind is consistent with no clogging. We'll see how it holds up long term.Design-wise, these are simple and well thought-out. The caps can be used as a platform for recipe measurements. Leave them on while grinding and you have a perfect capture device for fresh-cracked pepper or precision ground spices (though we have yet to use them in that capacity - I'll let you know after our next round of home made sausage). The simplicity of the design allows for easy refills. Important for those of us how have arthritis.Definitely recommended for those people who want simple and effective seasoning tools without blowing large wads of cash. Five starsI've gone through many salt and pepper grinders over the years, so I can't guess how long these will last, but the first impression is good. I had a pair with a similar design where the caps were too loose and kept falling off, and one day they gave out by cracking during use. I replaced them with a capless model that left grinded material everywhere. These have caps that fit snugly and the grind is adjustable, so what's not to like? I am hopeful that they'll last a long time.Sadly, one of the grinders went defective shortly after use. My wife was complaining about not being able to grind the pepper (salt was fine) and I saw that the metal cone was detached from the plastic grinding mechanism which rendered it all but unusable. Was hoping to contact the company but....I love these grinders. Seller trying to make sure I am satisfied. BUT!!! Purchased a set of Ziraki Premium Brushed Stainless Steel Grinders. These are very similar. No directions from either seller to warn me of the one cent washer between the black and white pieces of grinder assembly. Lost one washer to the drain out of each set. I notify Amazon cust. svc., explain that all I need is a washer from each seller and all is good. I wish that I could insert Amazon's C.S. response; however, here's the basic idea. I get full refund credited to my cc and that is it. No send grinder set back to sellers or any attempt at communicating with sellers to make it right. These sales are how these people make a living. The individual at Best Cook's Friend does not seem to have any clue how to rectify the matter. I'll email other seller and hopefully each will send me a washer and recharge me for the sale and all will be good. I never wanted a freebie. This is just not right. Stay tuned and hopefully this story will have a happy ending for all.We bought this set after having a bad experience with another brand. One of the other ones arrived with a broken glass container; this Best Cooks set was packaged in foam in a sturdy box. The other set did not grind peppercorns because its spring was too big to allow the peppercorns into the grinder. The Best Cooks set grinds salt and pepper perfectly. We also like the size of the Best Cooks mills; they are very easy to handle and look good. We give the Best Cooks Grinders 4 stars instead of 5, because they did not include instructions to wash the grinders in the package. They only do this in an email a day after the grinders arrived and were in use.
