Description
The 110 volt SECCO 5" Concrete Countertop Polishing Package is the tool of choice to create a polished surface on concrete. This SECCO wet polisher and 5" concrete diamond pad set is designed to help you bring a shine to your concrete counter top. Diamond polishing pads are used in sets. The 50 grit pad will prepare your surface by eliminating trowel marks, smoothing rough areas and exposing light aggregate. The 50 grit pad is also great for shaping edges and removing mold lines. The 100 grit will follow and so on until you reach the final grit where you should achieve a polished shine. Be sure to read any instructions supplied with sealer and coatings you plan to use, you may need to apply your sealer at a specific grit in the polishing process. This unit is equipped with an 800 watt 7 amp motor and features a variable speed dial located at the rear of the grinder. The RPM range of this unit is 1,000 - 4,000 rpm. The polisher has a compression fit coupling and is supplied with all necessary hoses and connectors to hook up a standard garden hose. Poor Description:I returned the 1st Hardin CCPOLSET 5" without even trying it, because all over the package and the tool is said it was a WP800 4". The replace that was sent was identical to the 1st. After closer inspection I realized they just put 5" pads in the box with their 4" tool. Most tools that are meant to run the larger pads are geared differently so that the RPMs are similar, despite the difference in pad size.Poor Components:The water connection from tool to water-hose is ridiculous. I don't how anyone would ever expect it to seal properly. It is so poorly designed that I thought I must be missing something, and since it doesn't come with any type of manual, it's hard to say. (See photo...note: the fitting is a type of compression fitting, and you can't tighten it enough to make it seal)Needless to say it leaked like crazy, so I added a gasket, which did help somewhat seal the leak, but the fittings aren't threaded long enough to fully tighten - so there's play in the joints. Additionally, the water valve was completely blocked up. I couldnt even blow air through it. So the "wet" function never worked. I ended up taking it all off and letting the water-hose trickle water across the countertop. Disappointing. The power switch also feels like it is about to break. I've only used the tool for about 5 hours. Also the handle that is included does not even come close to fitting, and the bolts included to attach it are about 1" too short! Come on Hardin! A little quality control would fix the majority of these issues. So why did I give it any starts at all?Well it did work...sort of. And the tool looks like a quality machine, I think they are simply using really poor components. (Switch, valve, handle, connections, etc) Even the packaging was top notch, so it looked promising.I wouldn't recommend this, especially if you need something that will last, because I don't think this will.
