Bought a couple of these (and have used them for years) and they have survived the hockey season so far - have had the white ceramic part break on some of them in the past. I play adult rec and my son is U18 and we both use it every 2nd game or so to put the edge back on the blades. Its not a replacement for a good sharpening, but I can go for almost a whole season without getting my skates sharpened if I sharpen them at the beginning of the season.Its sturdy enough and comes in a plastic case to keep the ceramic sharpeners intact. There is always one of these in my hockey bag!
